SA Celebs Who Lost Their Jobs Due to Scandals in 2021

SA Celebs Who Lost Their Jobs Due to Scandals in 2021. In the entertainment industry, it does not matter how talented you are, you can be let go in a split second. Over the years, we have seen so many of our personalities getting laid off work due to both personal and professional scandals. This year was no exception either, the best of the best in the game including Unathi, DJ Fresh and Somizi, lost when they least expected it.

Sometimes though, one doesn’t get fired, but gets suspended pending investigations. A few months ago, Bishop I Makamu was suspended by Moja Love TV after he trended on social media for all the wrong reasons. The Rea Tsotella host, was accused of infidelity after an audio of his voice communicating with a young female congregant went viral. He was later reinstated though. Another presenter from the channel, Jub Jub has just been suspended after the unsavory information he shared about Kelly Khumalo and Amanda du-Pont on Podcast and Chill with MacG.

Unathi Nkayi

A month ago, Unathi got fired from her radio gig at Kaya FM. The media personality and musician was the host of Midday Joy with Unathi, a gig she had since March 2020. The station announced that they have terminated the presenter’s contract due to “conduct that rendered the relationship intolerable.” A few days later, it emerged that Unathi had a misunderstanding with colleague Sizwe Dhlomo, and HR decided to let her go after listening to their issue.

Somizi

Somizi became the talk of town back in August when Mohale accused hi of domestic violence. Mohale accused Somizi of pulling a kitchen knife on him and threatening to butcher both of them to death just three weeks into their relationship. He also accused Somizi of breaking his ribs and almost knocking out his two teeth in a jealously fueled violent domestic dispute in their Johannesburg home last year. Somizi then took a leave of absence from Metro, he also took some time off Idols SA, where he has been a judge.

DJ Fresh and Euphonik

In February, Primedia Broadcasting announced that it has parted ways with DJ Fresh and Euphonik. This came after the two popular DJs were accused of rape. Some felt that it wasn’t fair that the two media personalities, lost their jobs before they could be tried in court. Others on the other hand believe justice has finally been served since it is not the first time they have been accused of sexual assault. Both DJ Fresh and Euphonik were employed by music radio station 94.7, which is owned by Primedia Broadcasting.
