Applications Open for the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment Youth Graduate Project. The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), together with Maquassi Hills Local Municipality, is offering 6-month youth employment opportunities through the EPWP Environmental Services & Youth Graduate Projects.

About the Programme

This initiative provides practical work experience, skills development and environmental stewardship opportunities.

Requirements:

• Age: 18–35 years
• Matric + 3-year Environmental related qualification or any other three year qualification that totals 360 credits
• Preference will be given to candidates who are NOT in Educations, Employment of Training (NEET) with Environmental Management related qualifications.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) and reporting protocols
• Basic understanding of EPWP and its relationship with national, provincial and local government priorities.
• Basic communication skills including good verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal relation skills.
• Ability to complete allocated tasks/activities related to the project and willingness to attend training
• Ability for participation over a period of six months
• Candidates must reside within the jurisdiction of the Local Municipality.

Duties

• Participate in the NW-Inhouse Model Youth Environmental Services and Youth Graduate Projects and complete all the work tasks from DFFE partners/stakeholders.
• Participate in environmental indicator activities and related exercises applicable within the municipality
• Monitor the attendance registers and supervise participants.
