The River Bags An International Emmy Award Nomination. After dominating this year’s Saftas, The River is tapping on the international scene. The telenovela has been nominated for an International Emmy Award.

The much loved show has been nominated in the Best Telenovela category. It will go up against other telenovelas from Argentina, Colombia and Portugal.

The River which boasts an all-star cast follows the lives of the Dlaminis and the Mokoenas, two families from different backgrounds who are brought together and divided by the discovery of a diamond in Cullinan, just a stone’s throw away from Pretoria.

In March this year, The River scored 17 Safta nominations, leaving its competitors in the dust. It took home awards for best telenovela, best scriptwriting, best music, best editing, best sound, best cinematography, best directing and best supporting actor. Actress Moshidi Motshegwa, won the award for best actress in a telenovela, while Presley Chweneyagae took home the best actor in a telenovela award.

The 47th International Emmy Awards ceremony will be held on 25 November at the Hilton Hotel in New York.
