All the formidable actress wanted was to be a singer and follow on the footsteps pf her idol Rebecca Malope. In 2002, when the Lion King production was looking for talent in Limpopo, she took her chances. She was number 2 057 in line and knew from the moment she stepped in that her life will change.
Veteran executive producer, Duma ka Ndlovu, was on the judging panel and he asked her to take his number. Maumela became proactive and called Duma who invited her to come to Joburg. Although she was in Jozi with no work for 6 months, she was then invited to Muvhango and as they sat, the rest is history.
