Levels: Lira Becomes Barbie’s First African Role Model
Levels: Lira Becomes Barbie’s First African Role Model. She continues to be one of the most inspirational women we have in Africa. Lira has just achieved what most women can only dream of. The multi award winning singer has a whole Barbie doll created after her.
For their 60th anniversary, Barbie has come up with a Shero campaign to celebrate role models who inspire young girls. This saw our very own Lira becoming the first African to receive a one of a kind Barbie doll.
Lira expressed deep gratitude for this epic achievement. “I’m deeply honoured to be Barbie’s first African role model and am excited to align with brand that is on a mission to show girls more diverse role models.”
She also emphasized the importance of being who you are. “I have always been someone who endeavours the celebration of my skin tone and natural hair, and it is amazing to see this reflected in my doll which I hope will inspire girls across the African continent. This is an enormous gesture and affirmation that the world is celebrating Africa for who we are,” she concluded.
