Ayanda Ncwane On The Painful Things In-laws Put Widows Through

Ayanda Ncwane On The Painful Things In-laws Put Widows Through. In most cases when a man dies, his family become hostile to his wife. Ayanda Ncwane knows this first hand. After the death of her husband, S’fiso, it was evident that she was going to have a tough one.

This isn’t something new in our society.  On Women’s Day, Ayanda penned down a touching message regarding widows. The inspirational woman, is yet on another topic that touches on the treatment of women once their spouses die.

Stating out facts, she said, “Did you know in South Africa ??, 6 out of 10 women are evicted from their rightful homes “they built together with their husbands” immediately after the passing of their husbands?”

Culture also plays an important role in the oppression of women, something that Ayanda had noted. “In 2019 , in the name of “culture” widowed women are still expected to marry their husband’s relatives (ukungenwa)by force or given an option to vacate their homes or even face the endless oppression of cultural norms that are extremely brutal to the widow and her vulnerable children, all this while grieving the loss of their bread winner and having to make ends meet.” she noted.
