Social Media Reacts to Former Police Minister Bheki Cele’s Statement Regarding Anele Tembe’s Passing

Social Media Reacts to Former Police Minister Bheki Cele’s Statement Regarding Anele Tembe’s Passing. On Thursday Bheki Cele dropped a bombshell when he appeared before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee. The former Police Minister opened a can of worms, when he shared what killed 22-year-old, Anele Tembe.

Anele, affectionately known as Nellie 22, died after she fell from the 10th-floor balcony of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town on 11 April 2021. At the time, she was engaged to the late rapper and media personality, Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, who was in the hotel room with Nellie when the horrific incident occurred. According to Cele, police had completed their investigation and were convinced that Nellie did not die by suicide, but was murdered.

I’m sure you’ll hear one day that there is an inquest into the death of Moses Tembe’s daughter. Police conducted the investigation, and they believed that the daughter was murdered,” Cele said.

Nellie’s father Moses Tembe, shared at her funeral, that he did not believe that her daughter killed herself.

I cannot allow an unfortunate narrative to go unchallenged, a narrative that irks me to no end … that is ‘Anele was chronically suicidal’. All I can say is, until Anele turned 21, not a single member of her family, my family would have associated her with suicide. As Anele’s father, I categorically state that Anele was neither suicidal nor did she commit suicide,” Moses said.

Now that the issue has once again been bought up, social media users are having a field day. Many people now are more that certain that AKA might have had a hand in Nellie’s passing. Others on the other hand, feel Cele was just bluffing, and there is no such.
