7de Laan’s Mimi Mahlasela On Why the Recent Storyline Was Challenging for Her. One thing about being an actor is having the ability to be anything at any given time. Over the years one actor can get role a variety of roles such as being gay, a church leader, a criminal, a cop, a business owner, a destitute and so forth. Most of our actors are able to transition from one role to the other without any hassles.

Having noted that though, it take a lot to just switch like that. More so when your character on one show, goes through a lot of changes as years go by. This is what Nobuhle Mimi Mahlasela recently experienced. The talented actress has played the role of Aggie Ngwenya-Meintjies on the popular television serial 7de Laan since 2010. The character became highly popular, and as a result she was then invited to play the role for several seasons in the regular cast.

Mimi has went through it all with Aggie on 7de Laan, while she also had a lot of traumas to battle. On the YouTube show Unpacked with Relebogile Mabotja, she shared her experience with being sexually assaulted and how keeping the secret for a long time made her depressed. The great thing is that, she got professional help, and was able to deal with the repercussions of the sad past.

On her recent storyline, Aggie finds herself unexpectedly pregnant, and it causes havoc in her life. She is caught between a rock and a hard place about her situation. Eventually she decides to terminate the pregnancy, and this was challenging for Mimi, as the actress behind the character.

“As an Actor I get to bring to life this character called “Aggie” and I’ve gone through many storylines but this storyline got to me emotionally – I understood the assignment and delivered. I found it challenging to tell this story because it was so close to home,” she said.
