Charges Against American Actor Jussie Smollett Dropped. He was accused of staging a hate crime and filing a false police report. Jussie Smollett can breath a sigh of relief now because all the charges against him have been dropped.

The actor was arrested in February for allegedly filing a false police report after he claimed he was attacked in Chicago by two men who brutally assaulted him, poured a chemical substance on him and tied a noose around his neck. 

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and denied any involvement in orchestrating an attack. His role on Empire, where he played Jamal Lyon, was cut from the final episodes of the fifth season to avoid further disruption on set.
