Dr Malinga on Reports That Black Coffee Gave Him R500k. Dr Malinga has been trending for a couple of days now on social media. This is thanks to his latest interview which is a hit on Podcast and Chill with MacG.
During his sit down with MacG, the musician confirmed that he was contacted by SARS and told he owed them more than R2m. He then paid the first R1m and made a monthly payment plan but failed to sustain that. SARS the took most of his assets ,and the emotional Dr Malinga shared that none of his peers has come forth to help him.
Immediately after the episode aired, dozens of people reached out to Dr Malinga with pledges. Among those is multi-award winning singer Makhadzi. She has booked Dr. Malinga for her One Woman Show which is set to take place at Makhuvha stadium on 1 October. On his Twitter page, Malinga has thanked other musicians who came through for him, including Black Coffee, Oskido and Kabza de Small.
He has not stated how some of these industry peers helped him though. Dr Malinga instead cleared some reports doing the rounds about the kind of assistance he got. A lot of people are saying Black Coffee gifted him with half a million rands, but Dr Malinga responded by saying it’s not true.
