Role Overview
The Internal Sales Assistant provides essential back-office and customer support to ensure that sales operations run efficiently. You will work closely with Account Managers, suppliers, and internal teams to manage quotes, process orders, and maintain strong customer relationships. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
Key Responsibilities
Sales and Customer Support
- Provide telephonic support to customers and respond to inquiries
- Generate accurate quotes for hardware and software requirements
- Assist Account Managers in achieving their sales targets
Order Processing and Coordination
- Process all orders from approved quotes
- Place orders with relevant suppliers
- Capture and manage orders in the Accpac system
- Monitor stock deliveries and follow up on outstanding items
- Ensure timely delivery and completion of invoicing
Stock and Logistics Management
- Track stock availability and manage back-orders
- Coordinate stock collections and prepare collection notes for drivers
- Resolve issues related to incorrect or delayed deliveries
Team Collaboration
- Support other Internal Sales Assistants when required
- Build strong relationships with Account Managers, suppliers, and internal teams
- Adapt to different Account Manager working styles to improve efficiency
- Work closely with stores and delivery teams to ensure smooth operations
Understanding the Role Dynamics
- Recognize the pressures Account Managers face in meeting targets
- Align your work to support overall sales performance
- Take ownership of tasks as part of a “business unit” mindset
- Maintain strong communication across all departments
Qualifications and Requirements
- Matric is essential
- Professional sales certification from vendors or suppliers is advantageous
- Diploma or degree in Sales or Marketing is beneficial
