SA Celebs Who Ventured Into Music After Fame. In most cases, people start with a music career and a whole lot of opportunities like TV and radio hosting come along. For these celebrities though, it is quite different. They were well known in their respective careers before they gave music a shot.

1. Boity Thulo

The actress and TV presenter became known for her role as Mpho Bogatsu on Rockville and presenting e.tv’s music show, Club 808. Now she has ventured into music. Boity showed us her rap skills for the first-time last year when she joined Nasty C during the Migos Culture Tour where they debuted Half. She has just released her single, titled Wuz Dat, features Strings and Blings rapper Nasty C

2. Anga Makubalo

He might be one of the movers and shakers of the music industry at the moment, but we have known him way before the music. He is popularly known for his role as MJ Memela on the SABC 1 soap opera Generations. Naak MusiQ as he is known in the music scene, is now juggling music and acting.

3. No Moozlie

She was selected by MTV Base VJ Search in 2012 and joined the show as a VJ the same year. N Moozlie propspered as a presenter on a number of shows before joining Cashtime Life records in 2014. In August 2016 she started her own record label, Nomuzi Mabena Music, under the management of SBR Projects Agency, and released an 11 track mixtape, named Versus in October 2017.

4. Khanyi Mbau

This is one celebrity who has done it all. From being an actress, television host and artist, she rules our entertainment industry. Khanyi became a household name as the second Doobsie in the SABC 2 soap opera Muvhango (2004-2005).

5. Thulisile Phongolo

We must agree that Generations has paved way for many celebrities. Thulisile Phongolo is popularly known for her role as Namhla Diale in the soap Generations. Before fame on Generations: The Legacy, she was a TV presenter on kids’ show Craz-e. She also had a short acting stint on local drama series Tshisa. Thuli has now spread her wings in music as a renowned DJ.

6. Lerato Kganyago

She is known for hosting her own talk show on Soweto TV called The LKG Show. She was also a beauty queen of note. In 2002 she was crowned Miss Jam Alley 2002. She was also a finalist in the Miss City Press contests in 2003 and 2005 and was crowned Miss Soweto. Her stardom grew and she replaced Bonang Matheba as the host of ‘The Link’. In 2016 she replaced Pearl Thusi as the co-host of SABC1 music show LIVE Amp.Now the media personality is a DJ of note.
