South African Government Shares An Important Update to Citizens Currently in the Middle East. There has been flight disruptions following Middle East tensions. The strikes have forced many airlines to ground their flights, leaving hundreds of thousands of travellers helpless.

South Africans in the Middle East have also been affected. The current flight disruptions are King Shaka International (DUR): two cancellations (outbound), O.R. Tambo International (JNB): eight cancellations (seven outbound and one inbound) and Cape Town International (CPT): four cancellations (outbound).

South Africa has thus shared a very important message to all its citizens currently in the Middle East Region. The concerned individuals have been urged to contact the respective Embassies accredited to their countries of residence. This is to ensure that they are registered with and that their whereabouts are known to the Embassies.

The South African government also stated that it’s support in these countries could be limited and that it could be assumed that no face-to-face consular assistance will be possible in an emergency. With that stated, the government may not be able to help individuals who get into difficulty depending on their location.

Some South Africans stranded in the Middle East have pleaded for urgent interventions from the government. Among those are socialites and media personalities Eva Modika and Spitch Nzawumbi. They have penned social media posts, explaining just how serious the situation is.
