10 Things You Need To Know About The Late Zindzi Mandela. The South African nation has been hit by another wave of sad news. The nation just woke up to the sad news that Zindzi Mandela has passed away. Details surrounding her death are still sketchy. Here are 10 things you might not have known about Zindzi.

1. Zindzi Mandela was born in 1960 in Soweto, South Africa.

2. She was the daughter of the late former President Nelson Mandela and the late Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.

3. At the time her parents were in prison, she was only 18 months old and was thus taken care of by her older sister Zenani for the period that the mother was away.

4. While her education was interrupted due to the fact that her parents were on the run during her formative years, she still attended Waterford Kamhlaba College. She went on to pursue a Bachelor Degree in Law- English literature and politics from the University of Cape Town.

5. A a political and social activist, Zindzi never shied away from engaging on issues of nation interest. Zindzi was also a writer, and is a published author of a very interesting book titled, Black As I Am.

6. She was a South African politician who was serving as her country’s ambassador to Denmark at the time of her death. She worked under the administration of former president Jacob Zuma and current president Cyril Ramaphosa.

7. Apart from politics, Zindzi is a business woman. She is known to have managed several establishments including Zee Zee Promotions where she was the managing director. She was also the director of Ster-Kineor, and at one time was the President of Mandela-Msomi Trading Enterprises. She has also been a director of Zendj Holdings, as well as a founder of Mandela Legacy Inc.

8. One of her children is Zoleka Mandela, who is a well known writer and activist. She has written about her addictions, her daughter’s death, and her own battles with breast cancer.

9. She sadly passed away on 12 July 2020 in Johannesburg, aged 59. There has not been any report regarding the course of her death at the time of publishing.

10. Zindzi is survived by her four children and her husband.
