Ndebele Artist Esther Mahlangu Receives Her Honorary Doctorate. Monday night Esther Mahlangu was honoured by the University of Johannesburg on for her contribution to the arts.She is now Dr Esther Mahlangu, thanks to her immense contribution to preserving the Ndebele culture through art.

From humble beginnings, to international stardom Mahlangu has done well for herself over the years. She’s been recognised internationally with a painting on a boulevard in New York. She’s also collaborated with international brands, such as BMW and singer John Legend and her work has been featured at galleries across the globe, including Japan and France.
