Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is offering a Dispensary Support contract position at its Potchefstroom store in the North West. Purpose Of The Role
The Dispensary Support role is designed for learners who can complete the basic pharmacist assistant course. You are employed on a fixed term contract during the learning phase. The programme builds your understanding of dispensing, pharmaceutical operations, and legal compliance. Training focuses on quality and accuracy in daily pharmacy work. Permanent employment is only considered once you qualify and register as a basic pharmacist assistant with the SAPC.
Minimum Requirements

- Grade 12 or Senior Certificate
- Pure Mathematics at 50 percent
- Life Science or Physical Science
- Overall average of at least 50 percent
- South African citizen
- Clear criminal and credit record
- Successful completion of the proficiency test for SAPC registration
Key Responsibilities
All duties are performed under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. Your role supports safe dispensing, stock control, and patient service.
- Sell Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances
- Assist with preparation of non sterile medicines according to SOPs
- Unpack and merchandise dispensary stock
- Maintain cleanliness of dispensary and OTC shelves
- Accurately interpret prescriptions within legal requirements
- Pick, pack, label, and check medication accurately
- Ensure all medication is checked and signed off by a pharmacist
- Control stock and monitor expiry dates from Schedule 1 to Schedule 5
- Follow up on script tracking reports and patient appointments
- Assist with call centre scripts and patient service calls
- Support scheme authorisations for chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication
- Report low or out of stock levels and stock discrepancies
- Receive stock according to company SOPs
