Minister Of Health Calls For The Nation To Avoid Cold Meat Products
Minister Of Health Calls For The Nation To Avoid Cold Meat Products. The Minister of Health Aaron Motsoaledi has urged the nation to avoid all sorts of cold meat products. This include polony, viennas, Russians, frankfurters, (ready-to-eat) and sausages.
This was after many listeriosis patients confirmed they ate processed meats prior to getting ill. Motsoaledi says 85% of patients reported eating ready to eat processed food, and said polony was the most common. Since July 2017 the total number of lives claimed by the bacteria is at 172 with 915 infections countrywide. Rainbow chicken Ltd foods and enterprise foods in Polokwane have been suspended from exporting their goods
We are removing products that may be linked to the #listeriosis outbreak from our stores. Customers who bought any Enterprise product (incl Bokkie, Renown, Lifestyle, Mieliekip), or any Rainbow ready-to-eat products eg. Polony or Russians can return the product for a full refund.
