Jacob Zuma Steps Down
Jacob Zuma Steps Down. President Jacob Zuma has resigned after his party the African National Congress recalled him, and said he should resign or face a motion of no confidence in Parliament on Thursday. Addressing the nation via live television broadcast, Mr. Zuma said he was resigning even though he disagreed with the party’s decision ordering him to do so.
“I have…come to the decision to resign as the president of the republic with immediate effect,” Zuma told reporters at the Union Buildings on Wednesday night.
