Stephanie Sandows on How Being a Mother Changed Her Views on Motherhood

Stephanie Sandows on How Being a Mother Changed Her Views on Motherhood. As the saying goes, experience is the best teacher! Now that she is a mother, Stephanie Sandows knows exactly what it feels like to have a newborn around.

Back then, the talented actress and YouTube content creator was just a cool aunt, who had a different idea on the whole motherhood experience. As the last one to have a baby in her circle, Stephanie told herself a that there are things she would not let happen to her when she has a child.

So in my family/friendship circles I’m like the last to become a mother & I remember being the aunt who always had a picture perfect idea of how this journey was going to unfold; here are some of the things I told myself (amazing how those who don’t even have kids have the most fascinating ideas about motherhood 😂),” Stephanie said.

Among goals she set for herself include, hitting the gym after 6weeks and fetching her body 3months after giving birth. Stephanie was not all about that ‘be patient, love your beautiful body that carried an entire human’ kind of talk. She also promised herself to be back at work before 3months, instead of just sitting at home changing nappies and feeding a baby.

Stephanie also thought her baby will have strict sleep routines, schedules and consistency, as opposed to be spoilt. As for baby blues and postpartum depression, she felt that those were not going to be her problems either.

After having a baby I am still the exact same person, there’s no saying goodbye to my old self. That’s a choice you make,” Stephanie told herself.

Well, it tuns out the joke was on her. A few months as a mom, Stephanie is singing a different tune. Because of stress, hormones and comfort eating, she is actually heavier than she was whilst being pregnant. No one is yet to fetch their body.

As for work, she turned down a great role at 8weeks postpartum because she was just not ready to work. And as for having an easy baby, Stephanie has realized just how unpredictable newborns can be. Baby blues also have the new mother of one by the throat, and she cries most of the time.

I am so not the same person, how can I be? I have never known this kind of love that consumes my entire being, that this little soul is all I think about 24/7, that she holds my whole heart in her tiny hands and I often just stare at her and become completely overwhelmed by how much I love her. That love changes you 100%,” she said.
