Minnie was studying film, media, drama and economics at UCT but she de-registered so that she could move to Joburg and pursue her TV career. She says she is thinking of doing Bcomm Marketing, just to do the business side of things.

Move is reporting that the star was excluded from her marketing course after failing the same modules several times. A source told the mag that Bonang, a former University of Johannesburg student, became very popular on campus because of her TV gig. “People would stare at her wherever she went on campus and maybe that’s why she she didn’t attend classes regularly.” The source told Move that Bonang did not drop out of university, but was excluded.

Nyovest dropped out of high school in 2006, left home and moved to Johannesburg. The following year, still at the age of 16, he was signed by the Motswako label “Impact Sounds”. After two years without a release, he left to start a label of his own to no avail — he moved back home. Speaking to Move about being a dropout, he said: “Going to school wasn’t my path to follow. I don’t have time.” He added that he really doesn’t need school for what he is doing right now. “I will go back to school maybe someday when I’m bored. I won’t go back right now.”
