This Year’s Miss South Africa Won’t Be Competing at Miss Universe 2025 Pageant

This Year’s Miss South Africa Won’t Be Competing at Miss Universe 2025 Pageant. South Africa has always had an impressive run at Miss Universe pageant. Our most recent win was in December 2019, courtesy of Zozibini Tunzi, who impressed the masses from the get go. Tunzi became the third South African to clinch the title, after Margaret Gardiner, who won it in 1978, and Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters’ win in 2017. In 2021, Lalela Mswane made us proud by being crowned Miss Universe 2nd Runner Up.

It has been a minute, since SA finished in a top position at Miss Universe. A year ago, Miss South Africa Mia Le Roux, pulled out of Miss Universe pageant, a few days before the finale. This according to an official statement was because of some health complications. An updated statement revealed that Mia, because of being deaf, she has been suffering from severe vertigo a few weeks before the competition.

Many pageantry fans were hoping that this year, South Africa will shine on the Miss Universe stage. Looking at the contestants competing for the Miss SA crown, a number of them have that Miss Universe element. Sadly, who ever wins is South Africa 2025, won’t be competing for Miss Universe 2025. The Miss SA organization has stated that they won’t be sending a representative this year, because there is limited time for preparations.

This update has saddened many people, more so since South Africa is quite a force on the international stage.
