Ntsiki Mazwai On Why She Doesn’t Wear Weaves
Ntsiki Mazwai On Why She Doesn’t Wear Weaves. When it comes to being proudly African and black, Ntsiki is unapologetic. This morning on the 40th anniversary of Steve Biko’s birth we woke up to her tweets preaching Black Gospel.
Among many things she spoke about was the choice of her hair. Her natural hair and the absence of weaves is influenced by one of Steve Biko’s quotes. The quote reads, ” I’m going to be me as I am, and you can beat me or jail me or even kill me, but I’m not going to be what you want”me to be.”
“I am waiting for Steve Biko Day to start….wake up guys lets talk about being black,” she said. It seems as if her natural crown is one of the things making her proudly African and black.
