Bookseller Opportunity at Bargain Books Kolonnade

Bargain Books is recruiting a Bookseller on a 195 hour contract for Shop U32 at Kolonnade Shopping Centre in Montana Park, Pretoria. The role reports to the Store Manager and applications close on 16 December 2025. Bargain Books continues to grow and remains one of South Africa’s leading book retailers. The company has more than 80 stores and has won multiple Bookseller of the Year awards.

Job Overview

The Bookseller will support daily store operations, assist customers, and help maintain strong merchandising standards. You will unpack and categorize stock, manage displays, and build product knowledge to improve customer service and sales. The role needs an energetic person with a passion for books and service.

Key Responsibilities

Provide friendly customer service to every shopper.
Keep the store clean and tidy.
Maintain attractive window and indoor displays and update them every two weeks.
Check that bestsellers are available and visible.
Assist with stock management and help reduce shrinkage.
Stay alert to potential security risks.
Build book knowledge to guide and recommend titles.
Engage customers, drive sales, and promote offers.
Order books for customers using look up systems.
Complete admin tasks including cash up, card checks, attendance registers, supplier payouts and emails.

Requirements

Matric.
Experience in retail or sales is preferred.
Marketing or literature related qualifications are an advantage.
Strong communication skills.
Fully bilingual.
Well presented and physically strong.
Able to work well under pressure.
High computer literacy.
Willing to work long hours and alternate weekends.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
