With the Concept A Sedan, which celebrates its world premiere at Auto Shanghai, Mercedes-Benz is providing a glimpse of the next generation of its successful range of compact cars. This herald of things to come has a purist design with strong surfaces and minimalist lines, and represents the next iteration of the Mercedes-Benz design language.
“Our global success is based not least on our compact car family. In 2016, more than 635,000 customers opted for an A or B-Class, a GLA, CLA or CLA Shooting Brake. And we’re confident that we’ll add a great many new customers this year,” says Britta Seeger, Board Member of Daimler AG, responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing and Sales.
The Concept A Sedan possesses the proportions of a dynamic and compact premium saloon. Characteristic features are the classic three-box design with short overhangs, the low-lying greenhouse set far forward and the distinctive front end, with its forward-tilted Panamericana grille and tautly elongated bonnet.
“The Concept A Sedan is hot and cool at the same time. Paired with perfect proportions and sensual surface design, the forthcoming generation of the compact class has the potential to usher in a whole new design era,” says Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer of Daimler AG.
