‘The Role Brought About Liberation” Says Our #WCW Lorcia “Tyson” Cooper
Dancer, Choreographer and actress Lorcia Cooper definitely deserves the #WCW title today. The 38 year-old actress was best known for her role as Charmaine on e.t.v soapie Backstage. Cooper has now bagged in a role as Tyson in the new local TV drama called Lockdown
She said that the role has brought about her liberation because she was once also enslaved. “Tyson was more than just a character for me. I was breaking down boxes that people had been consistently shoving into me” said the actress
She went on to say that was tired of being labelled as the “pretty coloured girl with straight hair”. Cooper felt that the role was hers right after auditioning. “It was the first time in my life I walked out of an audition and knew that this role was mine, I just felt it” She added. We must admit that you definitely doing justice to the role girl!
Cooper has been determined to deliver because someone believes in her. She took a year off to work behind the scenes, directing and assisting on films, but it was hard break into the industry again. She also mentioned that the past year was a financial struggle for her as she didn’t receive a regular pay cheque
