- Producing accurate and editorially sound copy from a variety of sources
- Watching wire services and feeds for the day’s news/breaking news
- Converting broadcast scripts into web-appropriate stories
- Writing headline
- Writing local and international stories
- Occasionally deputising for the duty editor
- Flagging changes and major moves in stories
Requirements
- Strong writing skills
- Excellent English
- Understanding social media
- Understanding of online and new media
- Applicant must have at least four years experience as a writer in a newsroom
- Must be computer literate
- Computer literate
