There is now a new trending hashtag on Facebook that says #HireAGraduate. It has been started by fellow South African students who staged a silent protest wearing their graduation gowns in Alice, Eastern Cape. OurNews Media has shared the news on their Facebook page alongside several live videos
Unemployed graduates are seen with placards some written “We are not lazy, We are unemployed”. Some went on to say that the work experience that is needed, incredibly outweighs their education. Facebook users are also supporting the initiative. Some users have commented and said that the government is the one to blame for this kind of unemployment rate.
