An opportunity for a Political Reporter exists within the editorial Department reporting to the News of The Citizen

Purpose of the job

Ø  To ensure that The Citizen remains up to date in its coverage of political event on a daily basis and to contribute to this coverage for print and online platforms.

Main responsibilities

• To submit comment and background articles
• To co-ordinate all political coverage in consultation with the news desk
• To direct coverage of local political issues at all three levels of government
• To represent The Citizen at high profile political conferences and functions at the discretion of the editor

Requirements

• An appropriate Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Journalism
• 3-5 years of experience as a political reporter
• Ability to write analysis pieces
• Deadline driven
• An eye for detail
• Valid driver’s license
•  Own vehicle
