OPW Groom Ties The Knot While Already Married To Another Woman

A groom on Our Perfect Wedding has been accused of tying the knot with a woman while already married to another woman. According to a media report by Ilanga Lesonto, the groom featured on Sunday’s episode of Mzansi Magic’s popular TV show Our Perfect Wedding (OPW) is allegedly already married. It’s reported that his first wife was unaware that her husband was getting married to another woman.

The woman who said she was the first wife, Nompumelelo Zulu, told the newspaper that she was shocked when she saw her husband getting married on the show. Nkulu Khumalo denied that he was still married and told the newspaper that he and Nompumelelo were divorced.

In a statement, Mzansi Magic said it was not their responsibility to inquire about people’s marital status.

“Our Perfect Wedding is approached by couples who would like their wedding days to be featured on the show. This generally takes place after a dating period and involvement of both families. We therefore do not have to verify couples’ marital status.

“The show serves as a witness to the couples’ love. It stays the couple’s responsibility to declare to each other any other relationships,” said a statement from the channel. 

This is not the first time OPW has been hit by a scandal. In 2015 the show lost some of its sponsors, including Absa. This was after the show featured a bride and groom who had met when the bride was 14 years old.
