MQA: Bursary / Scholarship Programme 2017

The MQA would like to invite learners who excel in maths and science, who will be studying towards a a career in the mining and minerals sector, to apply for an MQA bursary.

The MQA Bursary Scheme is open to qualifying grade 12 learners, or those currently writing their 2016 grade 12 examinations.

Students who are studying towards a certificate, degree, diploma or B Tech at a University, University of Technology or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College also qualify.

The MQA Bursary Scheme funds the following:

1. Disciplines at Universities or Universities of Technology:

• Mining Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Mining Survey
• Geology
• Metallurgical Engineering (Extractive only)
• Chemical Engineering (Mineral Processing)
• Electro-Mechanical Engineering
• Analytical Chemistry
• Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current only)
• Environmental Health and Management
• Jewellery Design and Manufacturing
• Rock Engineering
• Industrical Engineering
• Any B Tech qualification associated with the discipline / courses listed above

2. Trades at TVET Colleges:

• Diesel Mechanic
• Electrician
• Millwright
• Fitter and Turner
• Boilermaker
• Instrumentation Mechanician
• Fitting including Machinery
• Rigger Ropesman

NB: preference will be given to femal learners, learners with disabilities and learners living in rural communities.
