Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant to join their new De Drift store in Velddrif, Western Cape. Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate
- Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification
- Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
Advantageous Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge of Retail/FMCG operations
- Experience with Unisolv, SAP, and E-Scripting
- Oncology experience
- Drug and family planning knowledge
- 3rd additional language
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant will perform the following tasks:
- Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines and scheduled substances
- Compound, manipulate, and prepare non-sterile medicines according to approved SOPs
- Re-package and manage the distribution of medicines, ensuring compliance with legal and SAPC requirements
- Accurately read and interpret prescriptions, pick, pack, and label medications, and verify patient details
- Provide accurate instructions to patients regarding medication use and health guidance
- Maintain customer profiles, update scripts, track prescriptions, and liaise with medical aid systems
- Monitor stock levels, report discrepancies, receive and merchandise dispensary stock according to FEFO
- Facilitate bi-annual stock takes, and ensure compliance with stock, cash, and asset control procedures
- Assist patients at the dispensary and front-shop, providing professional and courteous service
Competencies and Attributes
Essential competencies include:
- Strong English communication and a second language proficiency
- Customer service orientation and attention to detail
- Numerical skills, problem-solving, and time management
- Team player, trustworthy, and able to work under pressure
- Computer literacy, including MS Office
Advantageous skills:
- Knowledge of retail/FMCG operations
- Third additional language
- Experience with Unisolv, SAP, E-Scripting, drug and family planning, and complementary medicine
Special Conditions of Employment
