Job description

Reporting to the senior executive producer eNCA division.

Your key performance areas include:

  • Come up with unique, well researched story ideas and be able to develop them visually.
  • Write strong scripts that match visuals.
  • Produce at least two strong original inserts a month.
  • Have the ability to secure exclusive stories, interviews and/or access.
  • Provide direction in edit and on shoots.
  • Train and develop junior staff and related parties.
  • Maintain a healthy relationship with news.
  • Ensure a quality programme that is accurate, truthful and meets the required specifications of broadcast, editorial policies and strategies of eNCA.
  • Consume an array of news sources everyday.
  • Have and develop contacts who can feed you stories

Requirements

  • Journalism degree/diploma.
  • A minimum of three to five years’ experience in investigative television journalism.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Must have a comprehensive understanding of editing television features.
  • Knowledge of SA media law.
  • Good editorial judgement and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Have and develop contacts who can feed you stories.

Note: the successful candidate will be required to work irregular and long hours, including weekends, public holidays and standby shifts.
