Thuso Mbedu Announced Her Latest Cool Collaboration

Thuso Mbedu Announced Her Latest Cool Collaboration. Not only is Thuso Mbedu a phenomenal actress, she is also good at narrating. She is now using this talent in a cool collaboration with Curio.

Curio, is a platform that turns expert journalism into narrated content. The app converts news articles into audio files from a range of publications, including the Washington Post, Economist, Financial Times, Guardian, Bloomberg, and more.

Thuso has been roped in to narrate the story of the Motsoeneng brothers. The two brothers were willing to do whatever they can to run out from the long shadow of poverty and the legacies of apartheid. Sergio and Arnold Moetseneng had each run part of the 89,9km course by posing as the same athlete.

With the prize money being the equivalent of 70 years of their father’s salary, they hatched a plan to win the race and elevate themselves out of generational and institutionalized poverty. The idea was simple. One brother would start the race, and halfway through, they’d swap clothes, and the other would finish it. After Sergio confessed of the cheating, he had to return the medal, and the money he got from the race.

In this story by Ryan Lenora Brown, initially published in Business Insider, Curio with Thuso narrating, explores how Sergio and Arnold thought they could outrun their past. 23 years later, they are still known as the brothers who cheated South Africa’s prestigious Comrades Ultramarathon. The only problem is that they got exposed.

“I’m thrilled to announce my collaboration with @curio.io where I’ll be sharing the incredible true story of ‘The Not-Quite-Redemption of South Africa’s Infamous Ultra-Marathon Cheats’ from Business Insider,” Thuso announced.
