Amanda Du Pont Explains Why She Opened Up About Her Rape
Actress and television presenter, Amanda Du Pont once spoke about being violated by a former partner, whom she never names, but who bears a striking resemblance to her ex boyfriend, murder convicted musician Jub Jub. She recently spoke about the rape ordeal and says the agenda for sharing her story was to empower other women.
Amanda pointed out that she’s moved on from that that period in her life and found personal empowerment by letting go of her anger
But in her recent interview with Grazia Magazine Amanda said, despite being raped people should understand that they shouldn’t be ashamed of their past experiences.
“When people are raped, they feel the did something wrong, or it was their responsibility. It’s not. But it’s important to deal with it and move on – like I’ve moved on. There’s no point holding on to something for years, till it becomes your reason for not being successful.”
“If you’ve been through a tough time, that means you should be more successful than anyone else.” she told the magazine.
