10 Things You Didn’t Know About Nomalanga Shozi

Nomalanga Shozi is popularly known for her role of “Nomalanga” on Etv’s soapie Rhythm City. Nomalnga is Zolani’s fiancé and the daughter of a mining magnate and struggle veteran. She started filming in May, and her first broadcast was in July 13 this year. She is the newest cast member to join the award-winning soapie.

Here are 10 things you didn’t know about the talented beaut.

1. She was amongst the thousands of actors who auditioned online for a role on Rhythm City. Needless to say, she got the part!

2. She’s only 22 years old and hails from KwaZulu-Natal, where she is also based.

3. Coincidently, her character on Rhythm City is also named Nomalanga – Zolani’s fiancé and the daughter of a mining magnate.

4. This will be Nomalanga’s very first major role on TV. Other than a few roles on student feature films, Nomalanga hasn’t had a big role on TV yet.

5. And when she’s not acting, she’s also a radio DJ and a Media Studies graduate.

6. Her style icon is Solange Knowles,”her style represents freedom to me. Something about the way she puts her outfits together speaks to me of art”, she says.

7. Nomalanga is a radio presenter, model, PR student and pop culture enthusiast

8. She has thirteen (13) brothers and sisters.

9. She’s obsessed with big hair. She says she’s all about the natural hair movement

10. Shozi is super OCD about people not pronouncing Zulu words properly.
