Position Requirements

Your skills for the role as Editor & VFX artist includes (but is not limited to) the following core responsibilities:

  • Editing adaptation and reversioning projects including shot replacement, retagging and cut-downs
  • Editing, Audio lays, rotoscoping, prepping artwork
  • Creating and laying legal supers
  • Creating and manipulating motion graphics including for original content and reversioning projects
  • Editing original content including commercials, brand videos, product demos, corporate videos, mood reels and pitch films
  • Assembling rough cuts from production rushes for commercials and promos
  • Preparing and troubleshooting projects for broadcast, including legal and technical standards/requirements
  • Manipulating existing graphic elements to regional broadcast standards
  • Quoting time on jobs successfully
  • Exporting, transcoding and trouble-shooting files for a broad spectrum of distribution channels where necessary
  • Clocking, Clamping and Mastering ads for broadcast

Terms of employment:

Regular place of work shall be 14 Portswood Road, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, 8001.

Standard working hours are 9:00 a.m. – 18:00 p.m., including a one-hour lunch break or breaks totalling one hour.

Employee is entitled to 18 working days holiday leave (plus public holidays), to be booked and approved in advance. We also grant 2 additional half days in winter and 3 days between Christmas and New Year, which are not included in the 18 working days.

Salary:   Based on experience circa R25,000 – (Full-Time)

  • Flexibility and adaptability to juggle a range of different tasks and to work extra hours to meet deadlines
  • You will be working on the Adobe platform using After Effects with relevant plugins for the VFX part of the job and Premiere for the editing and exporting of broadcast masters.
  • Speed, accuracy and artistry are essential requirements.
  • Other Software which we would be an extra benefit but not necessary: Nuke, Mocha, PF Track.
