Zanele Potelwa On How Police Patrolling Saved Her From Potential Danger During Her Varsity Years

Zanele Potelwa On How Police Patrolling Saved Her From Potential Danger During Her Varsity Years. Just in a space of two months, at least 8 bodies of women have been discovered in Kempton Park and surrounding areas. These include that of a missing runner, Elizabeth Tsontso Moselakgomo. The discoveries have sent ripples of fear and outrage throughout our society, more so since most of the perpetrators are still at large. Many social media users are calling on the government to do something, some are giving women safety tips, and others are sharing their horrifying experiences.
Zanele Potelwa is among the many celebrities who have joined the chat. The talented media personality and event host, has shared her own personal story of almost becoming a victim. This happened when she was still a university student. Zanele was walking to her home at night from the library when a police vehicle showed up and gave her a lift. The officer then altered her that three men were walking towards her. That is when Zanele realized that she saw these men at some point, but wasn’t even aware that they could be having other motives. She knows that her story could have been different, if that police car didn’t show up. Because of the experience, Zanele is advocating for more patrolling and police presence.
“Do SOMETHING!!! Anything!!!!
My brother @viwe_l_potelwa once said patrolling is a NEED! It truly is!!! π Enough is Enough!!!! Itβs ENOUGH!!!!!,” Zanele said.
Many women have shared their stories, including former Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane. The beauty queen spoke out after what she believes was an attempted abduction at Mall of Africa.
