Steve Harvey Cries His Eyes Out After A Surprise Call
It has been a tradition for the producers of the host’s Steve Harvey Show to surprise him on his birthday – which is Saturday – but on his final show of the week the unexpected appearance of his entire family was just too much for him. He may be a big guy and a King of Comedy, but Steve Harvey is not afraid of letting his emotions show. The 57-year-old is no stranger to getting a little chocked up on his birthday, but on Friday the Family Feud star set a new precedent for man tears on day time television.
And who said man shouldn’t cry? That person forgot to consider the fact that they are human and they’ve got feelings too!
It was 30 years ago when comedian Steve Harvey was a struggling comedian, earning a living as a carpet cleaner in Florida. Then he met Rich Liss and his wife, Becky, who gave the now popular writer and talk show host a break in the form of a line of credit.
When Harvey realized it was truly Liss, he said, ‘aw man,’ and began pacing the studio, trying to pull himself together. He looked stunned. ‘They took me in and gave me my first contract with my little carpet cleaning company,’ the talk show host finally explained to the audience.
‘When I became a comedian at 27, I didn’t have money to travel. They gave me an account at their travel agency. Man, I ran up a bill of like $11,000 just trying to travel and make it.’ As he spoke, the tears welled in his eyes.
‘You bailed me out, man. I never forgot it. Thank you and I love you.’
