Statement! SABC Reacts To The Gender Based Violence Incident Concerning Lesedi FM’s Dimakatso Ratselane. Gender based violence is a serious pandemic in South Africa. From young children, women, men and celebrities, no one is safe. No matter how much awareness is carried out, everyday we wake up to the sad incidents of rape, assaults, murder and any kind of abuse.

The latest incident that broke hearts concerns Lesedi FM’s Dimakatso Ratselane. The radio personality was stabbed 49 times allegedly by her husband in Bloemfontein this week. According to reports, Ratselane and her husband were last seen leaving their home in Mandela View on Tuesday, 9 February, to fetch their children in Phase two township.  It is believed an argument ensued between the couple enroute to the pick-up.

The Lesedi FM anchor was found around midnight the same day at the aforementioned informal settlement covered in blood. She was in such a bad state, she could not speak. This incident has enraged a lot of people on social media who are fed up by the escalating gender based violence issues in this country. Sadly enough, Ratselane is one of those who used to speak boldly against gender based violence.

Standing in solidarity with all those who empathizes with their employee, SABC, released a statement to condemn what happened to one of their own. SABC further went on to wish Ratselane a speedy recovery, and vouched to provide her with all the necessary support.
