“If a person loses their shoelaces in South Africa, they say it is Zuma” – Says President Zuma
Want to know what the biggest perk of being President are? Look no further and ask President Jacob Zuma! Speaking at a South African Local Government Association meeting last year, President Jacob Zuma said ‘it was easy for people to blame all the country’s problems on him while not working hard enough for themselves’. Zuma said he’s used to South Africans always blaming him for things that go wrong in the country, but he has learned not to take it personally.
Speaking of this, the DA leader Mmusi Maimane has now blamed racial tension in South Africa on the ANC, accusing president Jacob Zuma of failing to create a non-racial society.
“The project of non-racism has been leaderless because the ANC has failed to lead it. Our country has lost track of reconciliation because Zuma doesn’t know what to do,” said Maimane
Zuma responded to this accusation at the ANC’s 8th gala dinner at Sun City in Rustenburg on Friday “It has been DA members who have been racist, why must he blame me as a leader of DA. He’s been called a monkey, why can’t he deal with it? Why is he blaming Zuma? Come on, Please,” laughed Zuma.
“We are so unfair on ourselves, especially black people. There is no media that attacks white people… There was one person who was given a position with just a matric to act as a CEO, and it was not a big deal. If it was a black person, there would have been a lot of noise.”
Zuma said South Africans blamed everything on him. “If a person loses their shoelaces in South Africa, they say it is Zuma and I love it.”
