Skeem Saam Viewers Happy for Koloi Shivambu As He Finally Gets His Breakthrough. The character of Koloi Shivambu on Skeem Saam shows us the reality of many young South Africans. They go to school, do well, but can’t get any employment. Out of desperation many end up working as cashiers, waiters, petrol attendants and so forth, just to put food on the table.
Since viewers got introduced to Koloi, he has been battling hardships after another. Life got hard for him and his younger brother, when their mother died. There was a time their father threatened to take them to Bushbuckridge, while Koloi was doing his Matric. Koloi, was also quite naughty, while still a student. Together with his friends, Clement, Jonas and Noah, they got up to mischief during a Johannesburg school trip. The boys found themselves in a sticky situation when they couldn’t find their way to the bus. Koloi fractured his leg while they were trying to find their way. More trouble loomed in when a lion charged at the three boys and everyone feared for Koloi. He managed to somehow out run the lion, sadly Jonas didn’t make it.
After Matric he packed his bags to Johannesburg to chase his dream as a jewelry designer. Things got an unexpected turn when he trusted the wrong people in a taxi. They robbed him, to an extend of taking his clothes, leaving him naked. After struggling in the city for sometime, Koloi got a job as a waiter at Level Café. He goes through many challenges, one of them being a situation where some customers ran without paying the bill. Of course, the bill was on him now.
Recently things started to brighten up, when by chance Koloi was introduced to a jewelry designer. Sadly when going for the interview, the taxi he hired died, and her ran out of time. He was given a chance to come, after pleading his case. A few days while still waiting for their response, Koloi’s phone was stolen. This was such a blunder, and he concluded that he is one unlucky person. On the last episode, Koloi got the news in person that he got the job. Skeem Saam viewers who have been extremely angry with the storyline, are now happy for their fave.
The role is played by Tshepo Senatle, who started doing extras on the show. His talent earned him a permanent and bigger role.
