The following opportunity exists in the Space Science Directorate situated in Hermanus, Western Cape to be filled by an individual with the relevant skills, drive, competencies and qualifications
Student Administrator (3 Year Fixed Term Contract Position)
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the incumbent will liaise with students and universities as well as other stakeholders and have the responsibility for all student relations and administration related to bursaries, student engagement and accommodation.
The individual will be responsible and do the following:
- Liaison with donors, educational institutions, supervisors and bursars regarding student funding
- Update of policies and standard operating procedures related to the administration of SANSA
- bursaries and external student related grants and sponsorship.
- Assisting with recruitment and marketing activities for new students
- Administering the ‘student lifecycle’ from registration or admission to graduation or leaving;including maintenance of student files and database, ensuring data integrity
- Student payments and debtors administration
- Assist in managing the bursary budget
- Student contract administration
- Verification of student documentation (ID, personal details, etc.)
- Liaison with study institutions regarding student accounts and results
- Handle student queries (administrative and financial) and follow-ups
- Conduct student meetings and provide feedback to management on student related issues
- Assist with arranging student presentations
- Assist with any SANSA student related workshops/schools arrangements
- Follow up on and administer academic progress of supported students
- Arrange and book campus visits (students and institutions)
- Responsible for telephonic liaison with students
- Maintaining an up to date bursary filing system
- Administering the student residence – including the administration of housekeeping and cleaning, assets, bookings, repairs and maintenance, safety and security.
- Report on level of accommodation usage
- Other duties as reasonably required by line manager
The ideal candidate will have:
- A HRM Diploma/degree or relevant other diploma/degree
- 3 to 5 years administration experience
- Advanced computer skills in MS Word, Excel (including graphs) and Outlook
- The ability to remain diplomatic and pleasant, think on your feet and remain calm in a crisis;
- Good customer relations skills, a sense of humour and plenty of energy and stamina
- Well disciplined/self-motivated/professional
- Very strong administrative skills
- Flexibility and adaptability with good organisational skills;
- Ability to work under pressure and to solve problems;
- Proven record of being able to work in a team
- Experience in higher education administration or bursaries environment will be an added advantage
