“A Lot Of Actors On TV Get Roles Because They have A Lot Of Followers On Social Media”- Says Khanya Mkangisa

Khanya Mkangisa is an Eastern Cape born actress who is most famous for her acting appearances on SABC 1’s Intersexions and etv’s Mzansi Love Stories. It has not been long since the beaut landed herself a coverted role on SABC3’s popular soapie Isidingo, but she has definitely carved a name for herself in a cut-throat industry.

In a rather revealing interview , the beautiful Khanya Mkangisa opened up about the challenges in the acting industry touching on the “it girl” phenomenon. Khanya admits that a lot of  actors on TV gets roles because of their popularity on social media.

“Things have changed in the industry. These days it’s no surprise to see someone get a big role on television simply because they have a high number of followers on social media. A lot of great actors with experience and skill are being overlooked for roles because they aren’t as popular as the so-called ‘it girls’,” she said.

And ofcourse, Khanya would know this too well. She has been in the industry for years and it comes as no surprise that she knows all the secrets of the entertainment industry.
