SA Government On Providing Condoms To Primary School Pupils

Not everyone is thrilled by the idea of issuing condoms to primary pupils.  Some parents in SA have expressed skepticism, and many say the entire concept is absurd. The move is likely to unleash a heated debate among churches, parents, schools and children’s rights activists, who have 21 days to respond.

School Kids

These are some of the plans sitting currently on the drawing board …….

1. Schoolchildren as young as 10 could be offered condoms as part of a government move to teach sex education in schools.

2. There would also be mandatory sex education for primary and high school pupils.

3. Mobile clinics will visit schools so that teachers and pupils can be tested voluntarily for HIV, sexually transmitted diseases and TB.

The ages of the primary school kids range from 5-12 years. What is your take on this matter? Should government go ahead with the plan of giving condoms to the school pupils?
