5 Best Ways To Get Your CV Noticed
Your résumé is one of the most important tools you have when looking for a job. This is a must- You need to create a resume that brings out the best of what you possess, and do it in such a way that it looks appealing enough to get their attention.
Follow these 5 tips before sending your cv and one day you will thank us….
1. Your resume should be neat and tidy- Take out information that no longer supports your career goals, reclaiming valuable space. Old or irrelevant roles can be deleted or grouped together in an “additional experience” section to take up less room.
2. Keep Your Resume Focused- Strive to keep your resume concise and focused on your key selling points. Let go of past experiences that don’t market you for your current goal. Every word in the resume should sell your credentials and value to a potential employer. You should also leave something to talk about in the interview.
3. No. CVs should be between 3 and 5 pages long – Your resume is a career marketing tool, not an autobiography. The recruiter who receives your application will probably have dozens or even hundreds of CVs to shift and sort. So you’ll be lucky if your CV is read for more than 10 seconds.
4. Skills- Do put a skills matrix in your CV, so that both the recruiter and client can see, at a glance, whether your technical skills are what they desire. Don’t list every software you’ve ever seen in person, online, in a magazine, capitalise on those that you excel at.
5. Font- Should be nice and easy on the eyes, Arial, Calibri, size around 10-11. Why oh why people do their entire CV in BOLD and Italic or worse still BOTH! However, that said, I am a big fan of putting certain skills or achievements in bold to draw your eyes to them. =
