To this date, we have sadly already lost several extremely talented legendary figures in country music. South Africa has lost yet another legend, Former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs player John “Shoes” Moshoeu. Shoes passed on yesterday after a long battle with cancer.

In tribute, we have compiled 10 things that you didn’t know about John “Shoes” Moshoeu.

1. Shoes was born in Soweto, Gauteng.

2. He was born on the 18th December 1965.

3. When he was in his youth he played for Blue Whales and Kaizer Chiefs

4. He played for the South African team from 1993 to 2004

5. He played as an attacking midfielder.

6. In 2008 , he joined Amazulu at the age of 42

7. He made his debut for South Africa National Football team on 10 January 1993 and scored on debut against Botswana.

8. He has four children, two boys and two girls.

9. At Blackpool, Moshoeu scored 75 goals in 175 matches.

10. He represented South Africa in six major tournaments. He accumulated 73 caps and eight goals in 68 starts.
