Jacob Zuma’s Nephew Loses R1,5b Court Application
The North Gauteng High Court on Tuesday dismissed an application by Khulubuse Zuma to have claims of R1,5 billion against his company set aside.
It’s been brought by the liquidators of Pamadzi as well as the company’s workers who have been waiting for a pay for the past five years and those over 5000 who lost their jobs. The liquidators of his company want him and his co-directors to pay up the money for mismanaging the mines it took over and allegedly stripping the infrastructure of the plants and selling them for crap.
Zuma says he was not aware of alleged stripping of assets at the Aurora mine and therefore can’t be held liable. His spokesperson Vuyo Mkize said the workers were already owed salaries when the Aurora took over the operations.
Congress of South African Trade Unions Secretary General Zwelinzima Vavi said this was a victory for the workers who now have a chance of getting paid what they are due.
