10 Tips On How To Stay Organized
How annoying is it that it takes forever to organize a place and only a few minutes to be back to disorder? I’ll admit, staying organized can be a full time job and the thought of it alone is exhausting and when you finally do it maintaining is also a struggle.
Here are some tips on how you can stay organized and maintain it and If you consider yourself organized , don’t worry there’s always room for improvement.
1. Put it away now
Make sure you put everything in its place as soon as you are done using it. Making a conscious decision to do this as much as you can will make a huge difference and will leave you feeling much better.
2. Make your bed when you wake up
There’s nothing that screams disorganized than an unmade bed, make it a point to do this every morning before you leave your room. Seeing a neatly made bed will give you a sense of control of the day ahead, remember when your bed is unmade it makes it easier to throw anything on the floor.
3. Keep a to do list for the day
Set your priorities for the day as soon as you wake up by keeping a to do list for the day, it will keep you focused because you know you have to do those things before the end of the day. When you achieve that not only are you organized but you also feel accomplished for doing the things you set out to do.
4. Keep your planner up to date
If you don’t follow your planner after a week of deciding you want to stay organized, try updating it every morning. Make a habit of checking it every morning and crossing off the things you had to do.
5. Put aside few minutes every day for organizing
Devote at least 10-15 minutes of your time to organization every day. You can call it your “organizing break”, go around your place making sure everything is where it needs to be and check your list to see if you didn’t skip anything.
6. Make use of drawers
If you want to stay organized make the drawers, boxes your best friends. Have little boxes or drawers for your TV remotes, albums and books. Stick to the organizational method you’ve set up in the beginning.
7. Buy less
You may feel disorganized because you bringing in more stuff every time you come home. Yes it was on sale but do you really need it? If you do make sure you know exactly where you’re going to place it.
8. Get rid of what you don’t need
Dispose all the stuff that you don’t need or use anymore and keep only the things that are in use. Go through your stuff at least once a month and put away everything you don’t remember the last time you used it.
9. Use your time wisely
Think about all the things that you are spending time on but you really don’t care about, eliminate them and distribute that time on the things that are important to you. If they are all important then maybe cut a few minutes on each to make time for that one thing you really want to do.
10. Avoid perfection
The reason why you might be struggling to stay organized is because you spend too much time on one task and then you don’t have time for all the other five remaining tasks. Giving yourself time deadlines for each task will help you manage your time easier.
