Top 10 Tips to Improve Your Matric Results
If you are writing your matric for the first time this year and you know your previous grades had not been that great or you’ve written before but didn’t pass and you want to supplement, here are some tips that can help you get that good result you are looking for.
1. Know yourself
The key to succeeding begins with knowing who you are and what you want out of life. Once you figure out what you want to do, turn all your focus on those subjects. Be able to identify your strengths and your weaknesses.
2. Manage your classes
It’s not so much about taking all the subjects available to you; it’s about what you can manage. If you think you can do it, great! But if you know it will overwhelm you and then up having low marks in every subject, choose the ones that are important to you or try to get the information you need to plan and execute all graded materials for your classes.
3. Read Actively
Reading on your own plays a big part in you passing your matric, we all know paying attention in class is not enough for most people. Visit the library, attend study groups anything you think might help you understand your notes better, do it.
4. Utilize every class
At this point you can’t afford to dodge one class because you will miss out on a lot of useful material and you might struggle to catch up. Attend every lesson and pay full attention remember this is your final year. No whatsapp or any other social networking in class, it’s not worth it.
5. Take important notes
Be very attentive in classes, take important key points and for you to be able to do that you need to be a good listener. Find your own way of picking up important points, one that works for you and you won’t forget.
6. Study daily and differently
Studying daily builds and increases your knowledge base for the long term which will have you prepared for your final exams. Participate in group studying, rewrite your notes and write previous pares to practice for the final exams.
7. Know your teachers
This is not to say you should be friends with your teachers, but they should know you, this can work to your advantage when you need help on a topic you don’t understand because teachers know kids who are active in class and are usually willing to help them.
8. Get the help you need
Don’t wait until the third term to start looking for help for that subject you struggle with, obtain the help that you need now whether it’s something your fellow students can help with or it’s an expert’s advice, you already know where you struggle and where you are behind, act now.
9. Stay committed
Never lose focus on your goals, whether you are writing for the first time or you are supplementing, stay focused on your studies. Be committed to studying, to learning and improving your grades in any way.
10. Be involved
Studies show that students who are involved in some activities in their schools are better at managing their studies and time. Find a higher position even, that will push you to want to succeed at everything you do.
