Nollywood Star Pere Egbi Feels South Africa is Ahead of Nigeria In Film Making and Calls for Collaboration

Nollywood Star Pere Egbi Feels South Africa is Ahead of Nigeria In Film Making and Calls for Collaboration. The two countries are among the most prominent in the African continent. Both South Africa and Nigeria have produced some of the biggest stars making waves internationally. One can think of the likes of Tyla, Davido, Thuso Mbedu, Burna Boy, Black Coffee, Wizkid, Nomzamo Mbatha and so many others.
There is also a lot of competition from the two countries. On social media, citizens constantly drag each other to the filth. Deep down though, there it’s all love when they get together. Celebrities like Bonang Matheba have friends in Nigeria, and love using fashion designers from there for their red carpet events. Also some of the stars from that side get gigs here in South Africa. We also had Big Brother Titans, with the aim to merge upcoming creatives from both countries.
One Nigerian personality, Pere Egbi has made an interesting observation about both countries. He feels that SA is ahead of his country when it comes to film production, story telling and film making. According to Egbi, Nollywood still has a lot to learn from the South African film industry, and he called for collaboration between the two countries.
“No offense to my Nollywood colleagues but you see South Africa, they are ahead of us o when it comes to film production, story telling, film making, work ethics, name it. They are ahead. We need to collaborate,” he wrote on X.
As soon as he posted this, different views came flying in. Some agreed with him, while others did not. South African media personality Penny Lebyane also chipped in with her views.
“All that glitters is not gold. Looks very good from the outside and yes there some great things but kuningi 🤭 issa lot that needs fixing. And yes yes to collaborations,” Penny said.
